Is Shasta County under the regional stay-at-home order?

Thursday, Jan. 7

No, the Northern California region, which includes Shasta County and 10 others, is not currently impacted by the state's regional stay-at-home order. The other four regions in California, however, are under the order.

The regional stay-at-home order takes effect when a region has its available ICU space drop below 15%. Dropping below that threshold triggers further business restrictions, such as closing hair salons and prohibiting indoor and outdoor dining at restaurants.

Here's the latest percentage of ICU beds available in each region as of Thursday, according to state officials:

  • Northern California: 25.4%
  • Greater Sacramento: 9.2%
  • Bay Area: 3.5%
  • San Joaquin Valley: 0%
  • Southern California: 0%

Still in the purple tier of the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, Shasta County remains affected by certain business restrictions.

  • Open: Hair salons, personal care services, hotels
  • 25% capacity: Retail, shopping centers
  • Outdoors only: Restaurants, museums, zoos, aquariums, places of worship, movie theaters, gyms and fitness centers, wineries, family entertainment centers (kart racing, miniature golf, batting cages), cardrooms, satellite wagering
  • Closed: Bars, breweries and distilleries with no meal
