Woman charged in Botox case facing 28 new felonies; doctor now facing one more

The woman accused of administering faulty Botox injections that gave some clients long-term injuries faces 28 new felony counts after new victims came forward, while the doctor also charged in the case is facing one new felony, prosecutors said Friday.

All told, Susan Ann Tancreto now faces 36 counts of various charges in connection with the case after 16 new victims came forward, Shasta County Deputy District Attorney Lucky Jesrani said. All of those charges are alleged felonies.

Tancreto initially faced only eight counts of mayhem, battery with serious injury or other charges for allegedly giving the injections to a few people while pretending to be a nurse. The new charges are all additional counts of battery or mayhem.

Meanwhile, her co-defendant, Dr. Larry Pyle, originally faced one felony count of aiding or abetting the unlicensed practice of medicine (in this case, Tancreto's), and he now faces a second felony count of that charge, Jesrani said.

Jesrani said some of the women who got injections of Botox — or some combination of Botox and other substances — face "severe injury and significant facial deformities."

One doctor interviewed in the investigation into Pyle and Tancreto said his patient had hardened lumps all over her face, documents show.

The injections happened at Pyle's office, Tancreto's house and Bellissima Salon and Day Spa in Redding, Jesrani said.

Documents from the new filings weren't immediately available Friday.

The DA's office says its Shasta County Crime Victims Assistance Center at 530-225-5220 might be able to able to help victims with medical bills stemming from this case.
