Rotarians sell blackberry pie by the slice, with or without ice cream, at a past Blackberry Music Festival in Mount Shasta.

Fires didn't snuff out these events, planned on Sunday in Mount Shasta.

The Mill and Mountain fires burning in and around Weed and Lake Shastina put the future of some events in doubt, but event planners decided to move forward with them.

Here is what we know Saturday evening about these two events planned on Sunday in Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta Blackberry Music Festival

The 34th annual Mount Shasta Blackberry Music Festival is a go, Mt. Shasta Rotary president Lorinda Forrest Meyer said.

Saturday morning, power outages threw the event's status into doubt, Forrest Meyer said, but by noon power was restored to enough Mount Shasta ovens to bake the hundreds of blackberry pies for the festival's popular pie sale.

The Rotary will also host other festival activities at Shastice Park including family-friendly games. There will also be live concerts by The Brothers Reed, Secret Society Handshake and the Scott Durbin Band featuring Cindi Titzer.

The event is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the park at 800 Rockfellow Drive in Mount Shasta.

This Dunsmuir Rotary fundraiser, scheduled for Sunday at Lake Siskiyou, includes a triathlon and duathlon.

Races start at 8 a.m. at Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort at 4239 W. A. Barr Road in Mount Shasta.

Check in is from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Athletes participating must attend an information meeting at 7:30 a.m.
