The family of Phillip Walton Hoertling sadly announce that he passed away in Goodyear, Arizona on December 15, 2023 from complications resulting from a fall.

Born on September 11, 1939 in Sacramento, CA he was the oldest son of Phillip C. and Myrtle O. Hoertling. He was raised in Pondosa, CA attending grammar school in a two room school house and attended McCloud High School graduating in 1957. He attended Oregon Technical Institute graduating with an Associate of Applied Science-Highway Technology degree in 1959. Phillip worked for the Siskiyou County Department of Public Works for 40 years retiring in 1999. He married his wife Jean in 1972 and they made Yreka their permanent home.

Phillip spent his younger years hunting and fishing with his father and brothers. He was also an expert marksman and won many trophies competing. After his retirement he and Jean traveled the country in their motorhome spending winters in Arizona and summers in Yreka.

Phillip is survived by his wife Jean, adopted son David R. Hoertling (Laura) of Redding, CA, brothers Gerald E. Hoertling of McCloud, CA, Myron K. Hoertling (Patricia) of Folsom, CA and sister Elizabeth O. Pelletier (Raymond Sr) of Mount Shasta, CA plus numerous nieces and nephews.

No memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution to your favorite charity.
